Young adults learning English require a unique program that can reinvigorate their joy in learning, and release them from pressure of homework and exams in their normal school life. They need a place to practice and improve on their English base while continuing to develop their skills.

Our program offers young adults a chance to focus on the development of their oral English skills without taking too much time from their traditional school studies. By forming friendships with our foreign teachers and surrounding themselves in an English environment, their English improves dramatically in a short period of time.

Study Program
Our young adults also study our GEEK^TMStudy Method, first with classes to G - gain skills, then E - experience situations to utilize and apply those skills. Later students will E - expand on those skills in diverse areas such as listening, pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, and so on, then students will have plenty of time to K - Keep their skills by having ample chances to practice and communicate in English.

During the summer and winter holidays, young adults have more free time, and usually study at our center all day in our special holiday programs. During the busy school year, most students choose to come here just on the weekends, or a few nights a week. We have classes every day from 9am -9pm, so whatever their free time, we have classes to attend!

The student can study our program however he needs; whether it be during the school year, only taking K - keep classes and working on the rest of the program during the holidays, or working on the whole program all year, Horizon offers a wide range of flexibility according to your young adult's needs.

 

Abroad Intensive Program:
For students who are preparing to travel abroad, we offer an intensive study program called, "Get Speaking" that familiarizes students with the crucial situations to know English. From emergency services to banking, "Get Speaking" allows a student to feel much more confident in their English skills to prepare them for the challenge and shock of living abroad.

Application Assistance:
For students who want to study abroad, but have not yet made arrangements, Horizon can provide assistance. Most education agencies send students merely to some schools with which they have a relationship. They don't match students to institutions based on the student's skills, requirements, and needs. At Horizon we will first evaluate your student's English skills and school transcripts, and based on this information can assist you in selecting, gathering requirements for, and submitting applications to suitable foreign institutions.

 

Exam Preparation:
At Horizon English we don't believe in any 'easy formula' to ace English exams. To achieve good performance on English exams you need good skills, and to acquire good skills takes hard work, dedication, and a lot of support. What most exam prep schools cover in ten hours - some simple tricks and tips for a slightly higher score-at Horizon we cover in the first 10 minutes. Other schools have classes of hundreds of students, our exam preparation classes usually only a few several. Other schools give you lists and lists of vocabulary, we teach you Latin roots to help you infer the meaning of vocabulary you don't know. Other schools teach you their program, at Horizon, we create the program for you. How?

1. When you first arrive we will give you an English evaluation test to evaluate your skills: Listening, Reading, Writing, Speaking, and Grammar.
2. We will look at your evaluation and determine your strengths and weaknesses, and together with you create an exam goal.
3. With this exam goal, we will create a study plan, in skill specific classes leading up to your exam to achieve the results you are looking for.
4. During practice we will give you several evaluations to ensure you remain on track to your goal, as well as provide mental strategies to prepare you for test day.
   
    

Exchange Programs:
For many of our students the chance to go abroad and use their English skills is the best motivator to ensure hard work. The chance to make foreign friends and share culture and experiences is a rare opportunity. This is why Horizon is continually seeking to develop high quality exchange programs.

Summer Travel - Horizon organizes summer trips abroad. Most of our trips are to the United States. Most summer trips abroad are to an American educational institution where students receive intensive English training, and take some sightseeing trips as well.

'This is China' - In the summer Horizon hosts foreign students for our 'This is China' program, to introduce Chinese language, culture, and crafts to students from other countries. As our foreign guests build their language skills in Mandarin our Chinese students develop their English skills. Our Chinese students studying English in the summer have the unique opportunity to make friends with their international classmates and introduce their hometown to similar aged students from abroad.We take several large trips, and also have small daily outings and so all students have ample opportunity to build friendships and share knowledge with new foreign friends.
