Summer Student Exchange Plan
Study Goals:
Students not only greatly improve their English, but will be challenged to think outside of their own perspective, open their minds to hearing new ways of thinking, and think about topics and implications of topics both critically and creatively. Students will be encouraged to express their ideas and opinions in a safe discussion environment. Everybody in the program will refrain from being stereotypical and judgmental. By the end of the programs all participants will have a much stronger sense of another culture and understand what it means to be a part of another culture and what greater implications that will have for the future of the world in terms of business, education, foreign policy, and general globalization.
Students will improve their leadership skills as well as develop the ability to consider another person’s perspective. They will practice being teachers and ambassadors, and will forever be influenced by the things they learn and the friends they make.
Study Plan:
Students will take part in language exchange based learning (3 hours per day). In which every student is a learner and every student is a teacher. Student will engage in culture discussions, group projects, team challenges, and go on short excursions to see all aspects of life in the society they are visiting. Topics will roughly include the following:

- Healthcare
- Government
- Food and dining
- Economy and money matters
- Family life
- History
- Cultural perspective
Study time:
American students arrive in China on July 3rd leave on July 16th （including time in the airport）
Chinese students go to America on July 25th come back on August 3rd （not including time in the airport）
Study place:
America - Louisiana College Time:10 days
China - Horizon English Training Center Time: 21 days
Enrollment Target:
1. Age: 14 years old above
2. Excellent English （Horizon English Test Beginner level above）
Students will be chosen based on their respect, maturity, sensitivity, interest, and responsibility in academics as well as in regard to their general citizenship. A strong interest in culture is a must. Females will be paired with other females, and males will be paired with other males. Therefore participation is dependent on how many participants register from the partner country.
Fee:
Each person 15000 RMB (totally 31 days), and the student should pay the round trip plane ticket.

How do students earn their diploma?
1. The student’s classes that they have learned in their Chinese school will be transferred for academic credit to Greenways Academy if the student has earned a 75 or higher.
2. The student then finishes studying the remaining class through Greenways Academy to meet the American Education Bureau High School standards.
How many classes will I need to take?
Most students will take 7 classes in addition to their Chinese school’s program. These classes typically include English, History, Health, World Cultures and Geography.
What if I can’t understand the material?
Horizon English Center employs several certified Greenways Academy material experts. To receive this qualification, a teacher must have a valid American teaching license and pass two exams on the course content from Greenways. Working together with a Horizon Greenways expert makes sure that no student will be unable to finish the material.
