 Children need to be inspired. They need opportunities to discover and explore. This is how children learn. Our children's program is designed to allow our youngest learners to discover and explore English.
Teaching Method
Our children's FEED (Fun, Exciting, Encouraging, and Diligent) teaching method is designed to FEED our smallest students' creativity, passion, curiosity, and imagination. While other training centers simply require students to memorize vocabulary lists, we allow students to use English in a fun context that feels real to them.
We don't simply use this style:
Teacher says: "苹果用英文怎么说" (How do you say 'apple' in English?)
Students say: Apple
This will leave students feeling bored, and will actually discourage their interest in English.
In our classroom, the teacher will take apples, and say "Mmm, this is an apple. What's this?" "Who wants to eat an apple?" and will probably share some apple slices with the students. Our students love to come to our classes and feel excited in their English environment.
At Horizon we use Chinese tutors together with foreign teachers. Chinese tutors can guide and instruct the class to do certain activities, and the foreign teacher makes sure the accurateness of a student's English skills, particularly pronunciation. By communicating with foreigners in English early on, children will develop the confidence and familiarity with the English language that they will carry with them for the rest of their lives.

Study Levels
In our children's program we use imported textbooks from the renowned American education company, Pearson Longman, including Hip Hip Hooray, New Sky, and Side by Side. These textbooks include stories, situations, and characters that make children excited to open their books and play their CD's, encouraging English learning even while students are home. Our children's program consists of 10 study levels to serve children 3 years old until the last year of primary school. Children in middle school frequently join our young adult program, but are welcome to continue studying in the children's program until they enter high school. In Horizon English, if a student finishes a study level, with no more than two class absences, but aren't able to pass into the next level, they can repeat their current level for free. Every child's learning is our responsibility.

Parent Involvement
At Horizon we know parents and family members are a child's most valuable teachers, and we work hard to make sure you are connected to your child's learning. The walls of our classrooms are made of glass, allowing parents to watch the class, and their child's behavior and participation at any time. Teacher's fill out a communication book every class to let the parents know exactly what the child studied in today's class, and how well they accomplished the learning objectives. In the communication book, we also include related CD tracks and pages in their activity books, so parents can ensure their children continue learning at home.

Family English
Every month we have a family English class in addition to your child's regular class. During this class the teacher will offer parents easy instruction on the key English points your child has learned during class, so parents can practice with the children at home. You will be able to clearly see your child's English ability and be able to review and practice with them at home. Bringing the English learning into your home makes the learning much more relevant for children. Speaking English with your child is one of the best ways to make sure they excel in their English study.

Children VIP
If you want your child to study one on one with either a foreign teacher or Chinese tutor, you can consider our VIP program. The VIP program can be purchased to supplement our regular children's program with additional classes, or can be purchased on its own. In the VIP program we tailor make a curriculum for your child and book class times according to your schedule. We have American teachers who can speak Mandarin, making the foreign teacher VIP program possible even for young learners with no English base. The VIP program is offered according to our teaching resources, on a first come, first serve basis, and slots fill up quickly, especially for weekend and holiday classes.
